UN: Libya's eastern government has pledged to lift oil blockade.

Posted on Sep 27.2024

Stephanie Curry, head of the United Nations Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), said the eastern Libyan government has pledged to lift the oil blockade. But the restart of the oil fields is still some way off. Curry made the comments after representatives of Libya's two legislative bodies agreed to appoint a new central bank leader. A dispute over the leadership of the central bank led the country's eastern government to announce an oil blockade on August 26. But the agreement still faces difficult obstacles to implementation. "There are still a lot of negotiations to go," said an oil industry source. Restarting the closed oil fields ultimately requires the approval of the Libyan National Army (LNA) in the east. According to Argus estimates, OPEC member Libya is currently producing about 500,000 barrels per day of crude oil, compared with normal levels of 1.2 million barrels per day.

Mexico issues red alert as Hurricane John approaches south coast

Posted on Sep 25.2024

Mexico's top disaster prevention agency issued a red alert for parts of the country's South Pacific coast on Monday after Hurricane John rapidly strengthened into a Category 2 storm and is likely to increase in intensity before making landfall in the coming hours, according to foreign news on September 23.

Mexico's National Civil Protection Agency issued the most severe warning for coastal areas of Guerrero and Oaxaca in southern Mexico, reminding residents to seek shelter until authorities lift the alert.

The agency said the storm's current path puts it on track to make landfall between Copala, Guerrero, and Pinot Panachonel, Oaxaca, between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. local time (11 a.m. Beijing time).

The U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) issued a warning of "imminent" flooding, storm surges and hurricane-force winds. Early Monday evening, the storm approached Punta Maldonado, Guerrero, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) away, with maximum sustained winds of 105 miles (170 kilometers) per hour.

The Miami-based NHC said in a statement that the storm could intensify before making landfall late Monday or early Tuesday.

“John could become a major hurricane before making landfall on the southern coast of Mexico,” the NHC said.

The tropical storm warning extends east of Huatulco to the main port of Salinas Cruz, home to the country’s largest refinery operated by Mexican state oil company Pemex.

Starting from October, shipping costs may surge by $4,000

Posted on Sep 09.2024

Recently, there have been reports that after more than three months of continuous increases, shipping prices have reached a turning point, with both the West Coast and East Coast of the United States experiencing declines. Against this backdrop, there have been sudden reports that freight rates are about to rise sharply.

The main reason for this increase is that on August 22, an Asian shipping company reported to the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) of the United States, planning to increase the freight rate of each 40-foot container on the US West Coast and US East Coast routes by US$4,000 from October 1. It is reported that the increase is more than 50%.

The main reason is the high probability of a strike by US port workers on October 1. The contract between the dock workers and the port employers at the ports on the East Coast and the Gulf of Mexico will expire at the end of September this year. The International Longshoremen's Association has made it clear that if the new contract is not in place, it will go on strike on October 1.

In response to this prediction, some shipping companies and brand owners have responded. It is reported that on August 22, an Asian shipping company reported to the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) of the United States, planning to increase the freight rate of each 40-foot container (large box) on the US West Coast and US East Coast routes by US$4,000 from October 1.

If calculated based on current freight rates, this increase will cause freight rates on the US West Coast route to rise by about 67%, and on the US East Coast route to rise by about 50%.

Retailers such as Walmart and other importers are trying to get goods in before the union contract expires on September 30.
Some market voices predict that shipping companies may follow suit and adjust freight rates.

Application of Caustic Soda in Animal Husbandry

Posted on Sep 06.2024

Caustic soda (as known as sodium chlorate) is a strong alkaline compound that is widely used in various industrial and agricultural applications. In recent years, the application of caustic soda in animal husbandry has attracted increasing attention.

‌Disinfection and sterilization‌:
Caustic soda are mainly used for disinfection and sterilization in animal husbandry, especially in the breeding industry. Caustic soda can be widely used for disinfection of livestock, poultry, aquatic products and special breeding.

‌Feed additives‌:
The application of caustic soda in the feed industry is still very effective. Animals need this element in their bodies, and it can also improve reproduction and provide nutrition. Farmers will use caustic soda flakes for disinfection and sterilization of infectious diseases such as chicken plague, duck plague, and fowl cholera.

‌Water treatment‌:
The application of caustic soda in agriculture and animal husbandry has been widely recognized. It has a good livestock disinfection effect, can effectively kill bacteria, viruses and parasites, and prevent the spread of animal diseases.

The application of caustic soda in animal husbandry provides a variety of conveniences and benefits. Its strong alkalinity makes it play an important role in disinfection and sterilization, feed additives and water treatment. However, due to the corrosiveness of caustic soda, the concentration must be strictly controlled and necessary safety measures must be taken when using it.

In practical applications, it is recommended to use caustic soda reasonably according to specific circumstances and needs, combined with the advice of professionals, to ensure that its benefits are maximized and potential risks are reduced.
